Deoban Trek - Rare Weekend Trek
Deoban Trek is a rare weekend trek that will allow you to witness the sheer beauty of the Himalayas without going on long and high altitude trails. The highest point of the Deoban trek is at 3000m. From there you will be able to view around 50 high altitude mountain peaks which includes both six and seven thousanders.
Deoban trek offers a great opportunity to working people who would love to get away and experience the beauty and calmness of nature during the weekends. This trek is quickly emerging as the most preferred weekend trek in Uttarakhand after the Nag Tibba Trek.
The word Deoban means dense Deodar forests and hence you will find many Deodar trees on the trail. Located in Chakrata, the trail is covered with snow during the winter season and the camping ground provides a beautiful location to relax and unwind in nature.
You will be able to view some of the peaks like Nanda Devi, Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, Trishul, Kedarnath & many more.
So, if you are short on time but still want to experience the beauty of the Himalayas, Deoban trek offers a perfect opportunity.
You will be picked up in the morning from Dehradun railway station by the Crazy Mountaineers Team. The drive will take you through Chakrata, a famous hill station which used to be a cantonment area for the Britishers. On your way you will be able to view the beauty of nature and waterfalls.
Drive from Dehradun to Lokhandi will take around 4 to 5 hours. Lokhandi is the base camp for Deoban trek. It is a beautiful village with picturesque views everywhere you look. The hike begins with walking on a paved road which enters the dense forest full of dodhar, pine and oak trees. If you are hiking during the winters, you will find this part of the forest completely covered with snow.
The trail will slowly start getting steeper and we will reach the clearings of the Saraswati Campsite and stop for the night.
Brief Overview of The DayToday is going to be a long day as we push for the summit and return back. We will start walking after having an early breakfast. The trail is steep but it gradually loses gradient. Walking through the dense forest we will reach a clearing once again.
From here you will be able to view the magnificent greater Himalayan peaks. The shining sun on these peaks leaves its viewers spell bound. After walking for 6 more km, we will reach the highest point of the trek called Vyas Shikhar at 3000m. From here you will be able to see the clear views of many majestic Himalayan peaks as mentioned before.
After having lunch, we will start walking down to reach Koti Kansar. From there, The Crazy Mountaineers vehicle will pick you up to drop off at Dehradun.
