Dev kyara trek - Gallery Of Peaks
Dev Kyara Trek takes you to a high altitude meadow located in the Sankri range of the state of Uttarakhand. The meadow is massive, about 4 Km wide and is located at an altitude of 4,100 m between the famous Rupin & Supin Valleys. Dev Kyara is considered to be an easy - moderate difficulty trek and therefore, provides a great opportunity to beginners to explore the untouched locations and trails in the western Garhwal Himalayas.
Walking along the Dibra Gad river across the dense forests of Deodar & Oak trees you will be able to spot many famous mountain peaks like - Black Peak, Daowdu, Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini and others. The best time to visit this trek is pre and post monsoon periods.
The 230 Km long ride from Dehradun to Sankri will mark the beginning of Dev Kyara Trek. This exciting and thrilling journey will take you through the beautiful Himalayan mountains and rivers. It will take about 8 hours to reach Sankri from Dehradun. On the way we will cross some of the most famous hill stations of India including Mussooriee, Dhanaulti, Purola & others.
At the end of our journey we will enter the Govind Pashu National Park, famous for its wide variety of flora & fauna. Make your important phone calls before reaching Mori because the network gets very erratic beyond that.
Brief Overview of the Day
On the second day we will take a short 3 hour ride from Sankri to Boincha which will be the starting point for our trek. Boincha is a confluence of Dibra & Supin rivers. The trek is a short easy trail of about 3.4 Km. along the Dibra Gad river. After walking for about a kilometer we will cross a bridge and get on the opposite side of the Dibra river.
The trail will enter a slight gradual ascent up to the campsite at Obra Thatch. The camping location is a picturesque spot located in an open field in the center of the valley. Overnight stay will be in tents.
Brief Overview of the Day
We will wake up early in the morning and start walking after having our breakfast as it is going to be a long day today. As we leave Obra, we will enter a dark pine forest ascending continuously towards our destination. We will cover the first half of the trail under the cover of this dense forest with pine and maple trees.
Soon the trail will enter a steep ascend through the boulders and the scenery will change completely. The forest will open into a vast ground surrounded by towering mountains at a distance. Walking a bit further you will find yourself in a giant meadow beside a waterfall cutting through the mountain rocks. This is the Bhawa Waterfall, our campsite for today.
Brief Overview of the Day
We will start trekking after a beautiful sunrise at Bhawa. The trek route is filled with small and big waterfalls. You will come across over 20 waterfalls on your way to the Dev Kyara Campsite. As we start getting closer to the destination, the majestic Mount Ranglana appears to get closer. If you come here during the pre-monsoon season, you will be walking on snow. After crossing a boulder section, the trail enters a descending path that will take us to Dev Kyara campsite.
The view at the campsite is absolutely mesmerizing. We will be camping at a high altitude of 11,234 ft. near snow-clad mountains. This place is also the base camp for Ranglana peak. Explore the area around before retiring to the campsite for the night.
Brief Overview of the Day
Early in the morning we will leave for a spot which is about two hours away from the campsite. The place is a shade under a huge rock which can easily accommodate more than 100 people. We will return back to Dev Kyara Campsite and start our journey back towards Bhawa Waterfall. The experience of climbing down from Dev Kyara is totally different from climbing up. The green valley at the opposite end will surely leave you spellbound. Overnight stay will be in camps at the beautiful Bhawa waterfall campsite.
Brief Overview of the Day
We will wake up early in the morning because we have a long day ahead of us. After having breakfast we will start descending all the way down to Boincha which is a 12 Km trek and will take around 6 hours. At Boincha, a vehicle will be waiting for you which will take you back to Sankri.Overnight stay will be at The Crazy Mountaineer’s Homestay.
