Do Dham Yatra - Kedarbadri
Do Dham Yatra is two Dham yatra of Kedarnath and Badrinath. Also popular as Kedarbadri Yatra, Do Dham is most popular amongst the Char Dham Yatra- Kedarnath, Badrinath, Yamunotri, and Gangotri. These four places are considered to be sacred by the Hindu religion. Kedarnath falls in the Rudraprayag district and Badrinath falls in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand state, India.
By reaching Uttarakhand, you can set off your Do Dham yatra either from Rishikesh or Haridwar. If you continue further your journey for Do Dham from Haridwar, then you will go first to Guptkashi. It will take you 7-8 hours to reach Guptkashi. If you like, stay at Guptkashi for the first day or stay at Sonprayag as well so you might have less distance to cover up for the next day and get enough time to rest.
On the second day, you will go further from Guptkashi or Sonprayag to Gaurikund (middle of the way for Kedarnath). At Sonprayag, you have to pass through the biometric process that is free of cost. Sonprayag is situated near the holy Mandakini river. The origin of this river is the Chorabari glacier near the Kedarnath temple. Mandakini River is a tributary of the Alaknanda River.
Now your trekking begins from the Gaurikund to Kedarnath which is around 19 km. The senic beauty of Gaurikund will stun and mesmerize you mind for a while. According to Hindu mythology, there are hot springs in Gaurikund & taking bath in these springs is considered sacred.
On the way, you find the places like Bhimchatti, Jungle Chatti, and Lichauli where the camp facility is available. Going through the Kedarnath trekking route, when you see the picturesque waterfalls flowing in the hills, enchanting views of nature and the sound of birds.
Reaching Kedarnath temple which is located at an altitude of 3584 meters and dedicated to Lord Shiva, you can do worship and offer prayers over here. Being right here at Kedarnath temple is a great feeling of joy and happiness once in a lifetime.
On the third day, you will pass through the Guptkashi to Joshimath. Generally, it takes you 6-7 hours (around 145 km.) to reach Joshimath. Badrinath temple is almost 45 km. away from Joshimath. If you wish, you might stay right here at Joshimath on the same day and plan your visit to the Badrinath temple on the fourth day.
Badrinath temple is located at an altitude of 3300 meters which is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Reaching all the way to the Badrinath temple and finding the temple in front of you and the beautiful hill behind, the open weather and the mythical Alaknanda river flowing in front of the temple will surely make you spellbound. There is also a Tapt Kund which carries hot springs within it. Often, pilgrims go for a bath in this Kund before going to worship in the Badrinath temple.
The Do Dham yatra opening time mainly depends on the weather conditions. Most preferably, this yatra opens for all pilgrims and trekkers from the end of April to the beginning of November.
You will be required to arrive at Haridwar from there you will be picked up The Crazy Mountaineers for a drive to Guptkashi via the beautiful Devprayag and Rudraprayag. Guptkashi will mark the first stop of the Do Dham Yatra. The drive is filled with beautiful sceneries all the way as we travel along the Mandakini river. The 220 Km drive will take about 7 to 8 hours time. Once we reach our destination, you will be checked in the hotel where you can rest and prepare for the big day tomorrow.
Brief Overview of the Day:
On the second day of the Do Dham Yatra, we will be heading towards Kedarnath. Early in the morning, after having breakfast, we will drive for 30 kms to Gaurikund, the short ride takes around 2 hours and we will arrive at Gaurikund from where the trekking towards Kedarnath temple starts. You will also see the Mandakini river which originates from Kedarnath & flows through Gaurikund. The trek distance from Gaurikund to Kedarnath temple is 19 Km and will take anywhere from 10 to 12 hours to complete. Overnight stay will be at the hotel.

Wake up early in the morning for the Darshan at around 4:45 am. After puja we will return back to the hotel and prepare for the trek back to Gaurikund. Walking on the same route for about 12 hours we will finally reach Gaurikund where a vehicle will be waiting to pick you up and take you to Guptkashi. Dinner & night stay will be at a hotel.

We will check out of the hotel in the morning and after breakfast, we will head towards Badrinath via Joshimath. The 185 Kms ride takes 7 hours to arrive at the temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu - The Badrinath temple. Upon arrival you can choose to rest or visit the temple. You can take a bath at “Tapta Kund” which literally means hot spring and go for the darshan at the Badrinath Temple. Dinner and stay will be at Badrinath Hotel.

Wake up in the morning for the Badrinath Darshan. After darshan we will return to the hotel for breakfast and get ready to leave for Rudraprayag via Karanprayag. Rudraprayag is a pilgrim town where the rivers Alaknanda & Mandakini meet each other. The distance from Badrinath to Rudraprayag is 165 Km and will take about 6 hours. Once we arrive at Rudraprayag, you will be free to explore the city as we will spend the night at a hotel.

Note : Normally THE CRAZY MOUNTAINEERS expect to carry your personal luggage on your own, if you wish to offload your backpack, you can give it to Mule.
Charges of offloading backpack:-
INR 1200/- if you make an online payment, 10 days in advance
INR 1500/- if you inform us after reaching Guptkashi
The backpack cannot weigh more than 11 kgs. The backpack should have a waterproof cover. Suitcases/strollers/ bags will not be allowed.
In the event of cancellation of trek/adventure activity services due to any avoidable / unavoidable reasons we must be notified of the same in writing. Cancellation charges will be effective from the date we receive advice in writing, and cancellation charges would be as follows: -
Cancellations prior to 24 days from the start of the trek
Book any other trek till one year or get 95% refund (Note: If the trek charges are more, the balance needs to be paid by the trekker)
Cancellation between 24 days and 14 days to the start of the trek
Choose to go for the same trek, with any other batch, till year or get 70% refund
Cancellation between 14 days and 10 days to the start of the trek
Choose to go on the same trek, in the same season, with any other batch or get 50% refund.
Cancellation less than 10 days to the start of the trek
Transfer your trek (same trek, same batch) to your friend. No cash refund.
